David Wallace has assigned Holly and Michael to work together in presenting a piece on the history of Dunder Mifflin at the company picnic. Michael finds a place for them to sit down, enjoy snacks, and talk about the presentation that Michael hasn’t even prepared for. She goes along with Michael’s idea of just winging the entire performance.

Dwight and Andy are taking the picnic’s volleyball game way too seriously. Chastising their teammates for all of their mistakes is all part of the game. They find themselves a fierce competitor in Pam, out of all people, who literally knocks-out opponents with her serves.

Michael and Holly come up with a series of funny ideas for their presentation. But in the end, they are still empty-handed. Meanwhile, back at the volleyball game, Pam scores the winning point and everybody celebrates. The Scranton branch’s next game is against Corporate.

Michael and Holly’s performance is titled “Slumdunder Mifflinaire.” Taking a page from the movie, Holly asks the trivia questions and Michael answers them. Things turn awkward when Michael and Holly reveal in one of their answers that the Buffalo branch will be closing due to economic times. This is news that not even the Buffalo branch knew about.

After the Buffalo branch find out the news, all chaos breaks loose. David takes Holly and Michael aside to scold them for revealing the branch closing, especially since the news was delivered at a company picnic in front of employees’ family members.

Pam is beginning to think that maybe continuing the volleyball match against Corporate isn’t such a good idea. Dwight reminds her that volleyball is exactly what this picnic needs and Oscar agrees that Corporate deserves to get their ass kicked. When Pam slips during the game, the Corporate team demands Pam step out, due to company safety policy. Dwight stalls time, as Jim takes Pam to the hospital to get checked out.

Michael and Holly joke around that they will just to continue their performance next year. The two share a nice smile and then feel it’s time to say their goodbyes. Michael never gets the chance to give Holly his list and instead he’s content with just being one of those couples that will meet up every now and then and share a long history together.

Jim gets called into Pam’s examination room, where the doctor has some great news. Pam is going to be fine, but they are given another reason to celebrate. With the hospital room shut, they share in huge smiles and embraces and Jim sheepishly grins at the camera. He calls Dwight and tells him they are not coming back to the game.
